Where Are The Job Seekers? Recruiters Struggle To Hire At Local Job Fair Event

JobFairGiant.com held the Sterling Heights Job Fair yesterday Thursday, November 21 with over 500 immediate job opportunities available for experienced and entry-level candidates. The event was held at the Best Western Hotel, with over 55-employers onsite the candidate turnout was a great disappointment. Last month at the Southfield Job Fair candidate attendance was 1500 and yesterday the job seeker attendance was 750. Many recruiters complain that fewer candidates are applying for positions online and now job fair attendance is low, recruiters are wondering where the job seekers are. – said CJ Eason, Community Outreach Director at JobFairGiant.com

Gratefully, the Sterling Heights Job Fair was not unproductive for all 55 employers many expressed that quality over quantity was satisfactory in their search for candidates. United Lawnscape recruiters interviewed twenty candidates for their Snow Removal positions paying $ 14.00 to $23.00 hourly with expectation of hiring seventy-five candidates for the winter season, Endeavor Air was unsuccessful in interviewing for their Airline Pilot and A&P Mechanic positions. Michigan based manufacturer Sodecia struggled to find production, machine repair, toolmakers and electrician candidates and national retailer La-Z-Boy was mildly successful in their recruitment efforts to hire buyers, program managers, business analyst and interior design assistants.   

Many of the participating companies still need to hire candidates for positions in engineering, manufacturing, sales, finance, customer service, truck driving, management, retail, information technology, machining and more.
