#Detroit Beware About #Adobe Resume Templates

Fancy Resume Format verse Standard Format
By: The Job Doctor "CJ Eason
Download one of these stylish, free resume templates and you’re on your way to making a big impression. Just enter your own impressive skills in the Adobe InDesign CC template.
  • There are many resume styles available however we suggest that you only use these resume templates; when you are interviewing with recruiters. Most companies use an applicant tracking database and the format of the Adobe Template may not translate into the database.
Most applicant tracking databases are very basic so be sure when applying online or emailing your resume to potential employers you use a standard Microsoft Word format resume to ensure your resume does not get rejected by the database. It is very easy for your resume to be rejected for simple typing errors not grammatical errors but content errors. Yes! wanting to standout from other candidates is the mission of all resumes but save the fancy resume format for interviewing.
  • Do use a simple font such as Arial, Time Roman
  • Do not use photos or images
  • Do not use tables or graphs
  • Do not use to many bullets list
  • Do make sure your name, email address and contact number does not contain special characters before or after. example: phone |444-4444| sometimes when the special characters are too close to your number the database may associate the special character to your content \ | ( ) _ - # * < > / { [
A good resume will focus 100% on your skills and career accomplishments.
  • Do add a position header to your resume such as Experienced Manager or Entry-Level Waitress. Tell recruiters who and what you are immediately - don't make them guess.
  • Put your education first never last, most employers want people with education, training or certifications. Education is never an after-thought.
  • Dump the objective. Objectives are personal not for the company. Instead create a career summary based on years of experience and accomplishments.
    • Experienced Administrative Assistant, successful in project management and systems administration.
    • A highly organized and detail-oriented Executive Assistant with over 15 years' experience providing thorough and skillful administrative support to senior executives.
  • Dump the personal and professional references unless asked for them
  • Remove your salary history for each position. The goal is to earn more money not stay at the same pay range.
  • Use complete sentences for your job descriptions not a few lines of details.
